Apple has increased prices across several products in India, making Macs, iPads, and smart home devices significantly more expensive. The update will impact the MacBook Neo, MacBook Air M5, MacBook Pro range, Mac mini M4, iPad range, and HomePod range. This decision is made against the backdrop of rising costs of memory and storage chips driven by the global AI boom.

The steepest increase has been announced for the MacBook Pro M5 Max, whose starting price has climbed by Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 4,99,900. The standard MacBook Pro M5 now starts at Rs. 2,39,900 after a Rs. 70,000 increase, while the MacBook Air M5 has become Rs. 29,000 costlier and is now priced from Rs. 1,49,900.

Mac Mini and Entry-Level MacBook See Sharp Increases

Apple’s affordable Mac lineup has also become considerably more expensive. The Mac mini M4, popular among developers and creative professionals, now starts at Rs. 94,900, up from its earlier launch price of Rs. 59,900, marking one of the largest percentage increases across the portfolio.

The entry-level MacBook Neo has also seen a Rs. 10,000 hike and now starts at Rs. 79,900.

iPad Portfolio Gets Costlier

The company has also made changes in the pricing for its range of tablets. The starting price of the 11th-generation iPad has been increased to Rs. 49,900, while the price of the iPad mini has been increased to Rs. 69,900.

The iPad Air is available at Rs. 89,900, whereas the high-end iPad Pro costs Rs. 1,39,900.

AI Boom Behind Rising Costs

The tech giant has cited higher prices for the components involved, especially memory and storage chips. The suppliers have been giving preference to hardware manufacturers with an AI focus, thereby limiting supplies to consumer electronics firms and increasing their production costs.

According to industry experts, Apple has managed to insulate its iPhone customers from such price hikes despite rising costs. At the moment, the price changes affect Macs, iPads, and some home products; iPhone prices remain unchanged.
