Stay Connected Even Without Signal: Texting via satellite lets iPhone 14 and newer models send messages when there is absolutely no cellular or WiFi network. It keeps you connected in remote areas by using satellites instead of towers, helping you communicate safely and reliably in difficult conditions.

Go Outdoor with a Clear Sky View: To make satellite texting work, step outside into an open area where the sky is fully visible. Avoid trees, buildings, mountains and anything that might block the signal. A clear view of the sky and horizon is important for a steady satellite connection.

Open Messages and Start Satellite Texting: Open the Messages app and try sending a message. If your phone detects no network, a popup appears asking if you want to use Messages via Satellite. Tap it to begin. This option appears automatically when your phone is completely offline.

Follow the On Screen Satellite Guidance: Your iPhone will show a satellite alignment screen along with a moving guide that helps you point the phone in the correct direction. Follow the instructions and keep your hand steady until the phone connects. The process may take several seconds or sometimes a few minutes depending on conditions.

Type and Send Your Message Easily: After the connection is active, type your message normally. You can add emojis or quick reactions. Then tap the send button. The message waits for the satellite link and then delivers to the receiver. They will see that your message was sent using satellite.

Know the Limits of Satellite Messaging: Satellite texting supports simple text messages but does not allow photos, videos, voice notes or calls. Messages may be slower and can take up to a minute to send. The service is meant for important or emergency communication and works only in supported regions. 

Practice with the Satellite Demo Anytime: You can try the feature even when you have normal coverage. Go to Settings, open Apps, select Messages and choose Satellite Connection Demo. This lets you practice alignment and learn how the feature works before you actually need it outdoors.
