Xbox is adding more games to its disc-to-digital feature, and Ubisoft titles are now joining the list. Recently, Xbox started rolling out the disc-to-digital feature among the Xbox Insiders for testing purposes. This feature allows players to insert a compatible Xbox One or Xbox Series X disc and receive a digital license for it. Specifically, they will get a digital version of the game as if it’s purchased from the Xbox Store. The physical disc can be used later as well. This could be useful for players who want easier access to their older games.
The feature is still being tested, so the list of supported games is changing every day. As per the reports, Assassin’s Creed Unity, The Division 2, Far Cry 4, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Shape Up, Trackmania Turbo, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, and Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy worked successfully and granted players a digital license. However, there are still a number of games that didn’t work.
The list of games that didn’t work includes some of the Activision titles like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Guitar Hero Live, and Angry Birds Star Wars, etc. Similarly, some Square Enix titles, including Kingdom Hearts 3, failed to generate a digital license.

Xbox said that thousands of games are planned for the service. More titles should be added as testing moves ahead. Publisher support matters, so some games may take longer to appear. Not every physical Xbox game is supported yet. The latest change is good news for Ubisoft fans. Players with older discs may soon have more ways to access their games without giving up their physical copies.
The main benefit is convenience. Supported games can be easier to access across Xbox devices. Some titles may support Play Anywhere, giving players access to the PC version too. Cloud gaming can offer another way to play supported games.
Xbox’s disc-to-digital feature could give old game collections a new lease on life. Ubisoft’s arrival is a strong step, while more supported games could follow as testing continues.
