Apple launched the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, with the US offering the lowest starting price. The 256GB model costs USD 1,999 in the US, while India lists it at Rs. 2,99,900.

The global price comparison covers major markets including Dubai, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, and Germany. Apple announced the device on September 9, with Indian pre-orders starting October 16 and sales beginning October 23.

The iPhone Duo price gap becomes striking after converting international prices into Indian rupees. The US model costs roughly Rs. 1.90 lakh before state sales tax, making it the cheapest listed market. Canada follows at around Rs. 2.06 lakh, while Hong Kong reaches approximately Rs. 2.12 lakh.

Dubai also offers a major saving compared with the iPhone Duo India price. The UAE model costs AED 8,499, equivalent to roughly Rs. 2.20 lakh. Singapore follows at about Rs. 2.33 lakh, while Germany reaches approximately Rs. 2.54 lakh.

India carries the highest price among these major markets, with the 256GB version costing Rs. 2,99,900. The 512GB model costs Rs. 3,24,900, while 1TB and 2TB versions reach Rs. 3,74,900 and Rs. 4,49,900.

The difference gives the US a lead of nearly Rs. 1.10 lakh over India's starting price. Even after typical US sales taxes, the American market remains substantially cheaper than India.

Apple did not explain the large regional price difference for the iPhone Duo. Taxes, import costs, distribution expenses, and currency factors can influence the final Indian price.

International buying also carries practical concerns for Indian buyers. Customs charges, warranty conditions, and eSIM compatibility can reduce the actual savings after returning to India.

The price comparison also reveals a wider trend across Apple's new foldable lineup. Apple keeps the hardware consistent globally, while local taxes and pricing structures create significant differences between markets.

For buyers focused purely on the lowest listed price, the US leads the comparison. Dubai and Hong Kong remain attractive alternatives, while India commands the steepest premium among the compared markets.
