Meta has rolled out a new AI-driven feature called WhatsApp Writing Help as reported by the company’s official page. It is designed to assist WhatsApp users in editing and rewriting their messages before hitting send. The tool aims to make everyday communication smoother, more polished, and even fun, while keeping privacy at its core.

Whatsapp AI Messaging

WhatsApp Writing Help enables users to refine their chats by offering AI-generated suggestions that improve grammar, adjust tone, and rephrase text to be more professional, lighthearted, or encouraging. Whether someone wants to sound formal in a work chat or playful with friends, the WhatsApp new feature adapts accordingly.

To activate the tool, users can tap a pencil icon that now appears while drafting messages. Once selected, Meta AI suggests multiple alternative phrasings. For example, instead of writing ‘Please don’t leave dirty socks on the sofa,’ Writing Help might humorously suggest, ‘Breaking news: Socks found chilling on the couch’ or ‘Please don’t turn the sofa into a sock graveyard.’

Privacy First

Meta emphasized that Writing Help is powered by its Private Processing technology. This means neither WhatsApp nor Meta can access the original text or its AI-powered revisions. All requests are routed through encrypted and anonymous channels. Thus, ensuring that the feature does not compromise message confidentiality.

The company clarified that WhatsApp Writing Help is optional and disabled by default. It only applies to the specific message selected and will never auto-send AI-generated text without user consent.

Competing with ChatGPT-Style Tools

WhatsApp appears to be positioning itself as a go-to space for in-app writing assistance with this launch. Hence, reducing the need for users to rely on third-party AI tools like ChatGPT. The rollout adds to a growing suite of AI upgrades on the platform, including upcoming features like voice-based Meta AI replies and message summarization.
