WhatsApp is reportedly expanding the rollout of multi-account support on iOS, allowing more iPhone users to manage two accounts within a single app. The feature has been available on Android for some time and is now making its way to a broader group of iOS users.

The update eliminates the need to sign out of one account to access another. It also eliminates the workaround many iPhone users relied on, such as using WhatsApp Business alongside the standard app to manage separate phone numbers.

Reports suggest that many users can now access the feature through recent WhatsApp updates, although availability remains limited and may vary by region and account.

Users Can Add a Second Account Within the App

Users can view the feature in the WhatsApp settings page. They can create a second account by linking the new account to another phone number without logging out of the current account.

The accounts operate exclusively, meaning that chats, photos, notification preferences, user profiles, and privacy settings are all independent of each other. The WhatsApp application will also reportedly show which account is currently being used, along with notifications from both accounts.

Addresses a Long-Standing Request from iPhone Users

Multiple account support has been among the most highly-demanded WhatsApp features in the iOS environment. Users were previously required to keep two smartphones or find another workaround to segregate work-related chats from personal ones.

It is believed that this new update will be useful for professionals, freelancers, small business owners, and those who have multiple numbers. With this update, WhatsApp on iPhones now offers an experience that is more in line with its Android counterpart.

Part of WhatsApp's Recent Feature Push

The rollout comes as WhatsApp continues to introduce new features across its platform. Recent updates have focused on improving device migration, storage management, and account management tools.

Meta announced support for multiple accounts as part of a broader set of WhatsApp improvements earlier this year. The company will gradually roll the feature out, which explains why the feature may not yet be visible to all users.

Users who have not received the option can check for the latest WhatsApp update through the App Store. Since the rollout appears to be server-side as well, some users may need to wait until the feature is enabled on their accounts.

For iPhone users who manage more than one WhatsApp number, the update removes a long-standing limitation and brings a feature that Android users have had for years.
