A new screenless wearable called Luffu Link is taking a different approach to health tracking. The device is designed to quietly monitor health and safety while helping families stay connected with older relatives. The wearable is developed by Luffu, a startup founded by former Fitbit executives James Park and Eric Friedman. According to the company, Link is designed for families managing the needs of older adults, caregivers and other family members who want to stay informed without constant phone calls or check-ins.
Luffu Link looks more like a slim wristband than a conventional smartwatch. It tracks metrics including activity, steps, sleep, heart rate and heart-rate variability (HRV). The company says the device looks for meaningful changes in a person's routine over time rather than simply presenting a collection of numbers.
The screenless design is intentional. Instead of asking users to constantly check a display, the device works in the background while information is sent to the Luffu app, where family members can stay updated.
The company said that the wearable can also track location and provide safety alerts. It will be useful for older adults who want to remain independent while giving relatives additional peace of mind.
One of Link's notable features is its voice logging button. Users can press the button and record information about symptoms, medication, meals, mood or other reminders. Those notes are then transferred to the Luffu app. The wearable also includes GPS and LTE connectivity. A double tap can send a check-in to selected family members, while the wearer can use the device to request help from trusted contacts.
Luffu's larger idea is to bring health information from different family members into one place. Its app can organize information and identify changes in everyday patterns, allowing families to pay attention to issues that may otherwise be missed. According to the company, the link is positioned as a health, safety and family-connection tool that can help people notice changes and communicate more easily.

Luffu Link is currently available for pre-order and is expected to ship in early 2027. For now, the device is positioned as a US-focused product. If Luffu's approach gains traction, screenless wearables could offer families a quieter alternative to traditional smartwatches for staying connected with older adults.
