Samsung introduced Galaxy Z TriFold on Tuesday, its first smartphone that can fold twice into a 10-inch tablet. The launch represents a major milestone in the company’s foldable roadmap and adds a new dimension to the premium device segment.
Samsung has not announced the price of Galaxy Z TriFold yet, but it launches on December 12 in South Korea before heading to China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE, and the US. It ships in a single colourway, Crafted Black.
The company further added that the handset will be showcased at select offline retail stores across these countries, where consumers can get a hands-on preview before buying one. Samsung confirmed that final pricing and regional details will be announced in the coming days.
The model is expected to be equipped with a 10.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display with a resolution of 2,160x1,584 pixels, featuring a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 269ppi pixel density, and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness. It also supports 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, thus providing tablet-grade visuals when the screen is unfolded completely.
The outer shell comes with a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with 2,600 nits peak brightness and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection. The phone is IP48-rated for dust and water resistance.
Samsung has introduced a redesigned hinge system built with titanium housing, aluminium casing, and a dual-rail structure. The phone uses two differently sized hinges to ensure smoother folding and a tighter gap when closed. Measuring in at just 3.9mm when unfolded, TriFold is one of Samsung’s slimmest large-format foldables yet.
