Samsung is enhancing its Galaxy AI experience by expanding language and dialect support for its users worldwide. In a recent announcement, the South Korean tech giant revealed that its native AI suite will soon support four additional languages: Turkish, Dutch, Swedish and Romanian. Alongside these languages, new dialects of traditional Chinese and Portuguese will also be integrated, further increasing the platform’s accessibility and usability across more regions.
With this expansion, Galaxy AI will now support a total of 20 languages, marking a significant step in making its AI capabilities more inclusive. The roll-out of these new language packs is expected to begin by the end of October 2024, giving users more options to engage with Samsung’s AI-powered features in their native languages.
Currently, Galaxy AI supports 16 languages, and the last major update in April 2024 introduced Arabic, Indonesian, and Russian. The addition of four more languages and two dialects underscores Samsung’s commitment to breaking down language barriers and providing users with a seamless AI experience.
Once the new language support is available, users can access the updated language packs through the Settings app on compatible Galaxy devices. By downloading the desired language packs, users will be able to interact with Galaxy AI in their preferred language or dialect. "This update means even more users will be able to lower language barriers and step into a larger world with the power of Galaxy AI," Samsung noted in its official statement.
The expansion of language and dialect support is not just about accessibility, but also crucial for the functionality of various AI-driven features. For instance, the AI-powered Live Translate feature relies on comprehensive language and dialect understanding to offer real-time, two-way voice and text translations during phone calls. Similarly, the Interpreter feature, which facilitates live conversation translation via split-screen on compatible devices, depends on AI's ability to accurately analyze and translate speech in real time.
As AI continues to shape the future of mobile technology, Samsung’s move to expand its language offerings ensures that more users across different regions can benefit from the advanced capabilities of Galaxy AI, making it a truly global and user-friendly platform.
