RuneScape Dragonwilds finally landed on PC after its 18-month early-access journey on Steam. Starting September 15, 2026, players can access the official version through Steam. Before the official game landed on PC, it crossed 1.5 million sales during early access.

Reportedly, Jagex will bring the survival game to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 28, 2026. Players will also be able to play it on Day 1 through Xbox Game Pass on Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass tiers. Similarly, PlayStation Plus subscribers will also get it through the Extra and Premium tiers.

Dragonwilds combines survival gameplay with the fantasy world of RuneScape. The game takes players across Ashenfall, collect resources, build bases, and make weapons and other items to survive the brutal in-game world. Like other survival games, at every step there are enemies ready to eliminate players; so, players must fight creatures while managing their survival. The game can be played alone or with up to four players in co-op. Its 1.5 million sales give the console version a strong start.

Dragonwilds takes the RuneScape name into a different genre. The main focus here is not the usual MMO-style experience. Instead, players spend more time exploring, gathering materials, building, and surviving.

This change could also help the series reach a new group of players. Someone who never played RuneScape may find the survival format easier to pick up. Long-time fans, meanwhile, get another way to explore the familiar fantasy world.

Dragonwilds Could Give RuneScape a Bigger Audience

The game shows that Jagex is willing to take RuneScape beyond its traditional format. Survival games already have a large audience, and Dragonwilds brings that style together with the series’ fantasy setting.

The move to consoles could widen its reach even further. Game Pass and PlayStation Plus may also make it easier for subscribers to give the game a try.

Dragonwilds already made an impact on PC with 1.5 million early-access sales. The console launch will now show whether its mix of survival gameplay and RuneScape’s world can attract even more players.
