Robinhood reported USD 120 million in crypto transaction revenue for Q3 2026, down 55% year over year but above analyst forecasts. The company disclosed the results on October 27, as weaker cryptocurrency trading reduced digital asset income. Analysts expected USD 114.1 million, while crypto contributed just 8.4% of total revenue, down from approximately 21% a year earlier.
Crypto trading volume across Robinhood and Bitstamp fell 38% to USD 50 billion during the quarter. Robinhood’s app recorded USD 21 billion in volume, down 48%, while Bitstamp handled USD 29 billion, a 28% decline. Reduced customer activity pressured crypto earnings even as other business lines expanded.
Robinhood’s total revenue increased 12% year over year to USD 1.424 billion, slightly below the USD 1.43 billion analyst estimate. Options trading generated USD 399 million, up 31%, while equities revenue climbed 41% to USD 121 million. Prediction markets delivered USD 173 million, more than six times the year earlier figure.
Prediction markets now generate more revenue than Robinhood’s crypto business, highlighting a shift in its revenue mix. Earnings per share reached USD 0.51, missing the analyst consensus estimate of USD 0.55. The earnings shortfall and weaker crypto activity weighed on investor sentiment.
Robinhood continued expanding its blockchain business as cryptocurrency trading volumes weakened during the third quarter. Robinhood Chain recorded more than USD 80 billion in decentralized exchange volume during its first quarter on mainnet.
The company reported over USD 50 million in chain fees, including USD 26 million in net revenue attributable to Robinhood Chain.
The blockchain network adds another source of digital asset income beyond traditional crypto trading. However, its growth has not yet offset the broader decline in crypto transaction revenue. Robinhood shares fell around 5% in after-hours trading following the earnings report.
