Ragini Das Joins Google to Lead Startups in India After Leap.club Closure
Ragini Das, co-founder of Leap.club, has recently joined Google as Head of Google for Startups in India. This is a big moment for her career, completing a journey that started more than a decade ago.
Early Career and Zomato Experience
In 2013, Das applied for jobs at Google and Zomato. She did not land a job at Google and joined Zomato instead, where she worked for six years and learned about business, growth, and marketing. Ragini also played an important role in launching Zomato Gold in other countries. This experience gave her the confidence to start her own company.
Leap.club and Joining Google
In 2020, Das co-founded Leap.club, a platform to help women connect, network, and grow in their careers. Leap.club became very popular and changed the lives of thousands of women. Das said it was her “most defining chapter” because it gave her purpose and a chance to meet founders solving problems in India. However, in June 2025, Leap.club had to stop its operations.
After taking a break to focus on personal projects, Das came across a new opportunity at Google in August 2025. She felt the role fit her experience perfectly. In a LinkedIn post, she said joining Google “felt like destiny” and shared her excitement to help startups grow in India.
As the Head of Google for Startups in India, Das will be guiding early-stage companies. Her responsibilities include connecting founders with the right network, suggesting the best tools for smoother workflows, and sharing healthy practices that help startups succeed. The overall goal is to strengthen India's startup ecosystem and scale local businesses globally.
The story of Ragini Das is inspiring. From being rejected by Google in 2013 to running Google's startup program in India, her journey is a testimony to how hard work, patience, and learning from experiences can lead to success. Her journey also motivates new founders to keep their spirits alive when things go downhill.
