Nothing Phone 3a launch date has been officially confirmed for March 4, 2025. CEO Carl Pei revealed that the phone will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. This is a shift from the previously used MediaTek Dimensity chipsets in the last Nothing Phone 2a series. Pei also pointed out that the Nothing Phone 3a update will include better CPU and neural processing unit (NPU) performance. The aim behind this upgrade is to boost on-device AI capabilities.
The Nothing Phone 3a will come with a 25% more powerful CPU and a 72% better NPU than the Phone 2a Plus. CEO Pei announced these updates in a social media video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter):
The exact chipset has not been confirmed. However, rumors suggest that the phone might feature the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor. It will also offer a 6.8-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Thus, providing a better user experience.
Leaked information suggests that the Nothing Phone 3a might come with a new camera design featuring an extra sensor. One of the variants is likely to have a 50MP telephoto lens, in addition to a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The selfie camera is likely to be a 32MP sensor, for selfie lovers.
The addition of an additional button on the right-hand side of the device has generated speculation. Some think that it might be a dedicated camera button, as seen in the iPhone 16 series. Others, however, think that it might act as an action button for AI-based features.
The company has also revealed that the Phone 3a series will be manufactured in its Chennai-based factory. The plant has more than 500 employees, 95% of whom are female. Nothing has yet been revealed about whether the units will be sold only in India or exported to other countries.
The Nothing Phone 3a series is likely to have the company's signature transparent back with Glyph lighting. Improved performance and camera capabilities will help the new series to easily compete in the premium smartphone category.
