Microsoft has officially released Windows 11 25H2 version (Build 26200.5074) for the Release Preview Channel, setting the stage for a wider rollout later this year. The announcement was made on August 29, 2025, through an official company blog post, as reported by The Hindu. The new update focuses on simplifying upgrades, enhancing enterprise flexibility, and streamlining device management for IT administrators and education users.
The software giant has not provided a detailed list of new features yet. However, it was confirmed that the update will remove PowerShell 2.0 and the Windows Management Instrumentation command-line (WMIC) tool. Alongside this, version 25H2 will inherit improvements introduced in earlier versions.
Both versions 24H2 and 25H2 operate on the same servicing branch. This means users can complete the upgrade with a single system restart, after which the enablement package will activate the new version. This approach simplifies the transition for users and organizations.
A key feature of the release is aimed at enterprise and educational customers. IT administrators will gain the ability to remove select pre-installed Microsoft Store apps using Group Policy or MDM CSP. Hence, it gives organizations greater flexibility in device management.
Windows Insiders can already access the update through the Settings app under the Release Preview Channel. Once installed, they will continue receiving the latest servicing updates through Windows Update. With this rollout, Microsoft continues its phased approach to delivering new functionality while refining Windows 11 for both personal and enterprise users.
As Microsoft prepares for the broader release of Windows 11 version 25H2 later this year, more details about new features are expected to surface. The tech giant is doubling down on making Windows 11 more adaptable for business and education environments with this update. Users can look forward to a smoother, more customizable experience that aligns with evolving workplace needs.
