Google has rolled out a new AI agent, Remy. The tech giant is working on a ‘24/7 personal assistant’ that actively manages a user’s digital life. Reportedly, this AI agent goes beyond chat-based responses and focuses on execution.

The latest project is an important part of Google’s broader AI push, powered by Gemini. The main aim is to evolve from a conversational tool into a full-stack digital operator.

Google Builds ‘Remy’; Your 24/7 AI Agent

According to a report by Business Insider, the new agent, codenamed Remy, is designed to function as a 24/7 personal agent for work, school, and everyday life. It elevates the Gemini app into a true assistant that can take actions on your behalf, not just answer questions or generate content.

Remy marks a shift in how AI systems function. The system needs to achieve its goal because users require it to work without their constant assistance. The system can now summarize emails, handle message responses, organize meeting times, and execute complex multi-step tasks. The system needs to achieve its goal because users require it to work without their constant assistance. Remy can do the following things for you:

  • Track user preferences

  • Learn behavior patterns

  • Act with minimal human supervision

This approach positions it closer to a digital executive assistant than a chatbot. The system is likely to integrate deeply with Google’s ecosystem. This includes Calendar, Gmail, Docs, and Search.

Google Shifts Toward Agentic AI

Google aims to follow the industry trend toward agentic AI systems through Remy's development. The new AI project is described as a ‘dogfooding project’. This is a standard practice in the tech industry where employees test products internally before a public rollout.

Currently, tech industries are focused on developing advanced tools beyond basic content generation capabilities. If successful, Remy could change how users interact with technology. It may replace routine app usage with a single interface that manages everything in the background. As of now, Google has not revealed any information about the launch timeline of Remy. Upcoming developer events are expected to come with a better understanding of the AI-agent launch.
