Simulation games enjoy a massive fan following. These games allow players to live a life that they can’t in real life. Among the most popular simulation games, Electronic Arts’ The Sims 4 comes at the top. Released in 2014, this game frequently receives updates to address issues and add new content.
At the beginning of July, the game got a significant update, and again, it’s time for another upgrade. On July 1, the base game received a major update that added an inventory overhaul and several other improvements. Like other patches, it also fixed some bugs and glitches.
Unfortunately, this update has brought some unexpected consequences in addition to changes to the gameplay. The pregnancy system is now broken, and EA promises a fix.
The gameplay of The Sims 4 has always been balanced. The aim of the latest patch was also the same. Initially, players started praising the quality-of-life upgrades that the game has brought. The scenario soon changed as the pregnancy glitch began to appear.
Players on different game forums started complaining that they aren’t getting critical pregnancy interactions. Some reported that the ‘Try for Baby’ interaction isn’t appearing for them. Following that, another group of gamers mentioned that for them, the pregnancy test option has disappeared.
For a few, their Sims’ baby bumps have suddenly vanished. Despite the Sims being marked as pregnant, they show no trace of baby bumps at all. This feature is essential for a social simulator, particularly for those working on legacies or family-focused narratives. Therefore, this glitch has made the game unplayable to many.

It didn’t take much time before the backlash began. Fans started severely criticizing EA for this glitch. In response to this community uproar, EA and The Sims team confirmed that they are actively investigating the reason behind this issue.
As of writing, it’s uncertain what fix they will add. On July 10, EA is about to bring the Enchanted by Nature expansion, and it’s confirmed that two persistent issues, one related to the hobby board and the second about cleaning, will be fixed with this expansion. Players hope it will also bring a solution to the pregnancy glitch.
Now that the developer has acknowledged the issue and confirmed that they are working on it, the fix is on its way. However, players are still unsure of the exact date, even after receiving assurances from EA.
The Sims 4 has been reigning the simulation gaming world for years, but this one glitch has shaken its throne. The pregnancy mechanism is one of the core parts of the gameplay, and players aren’t ready to cope with this for a long time. EA’s prompt response and assurance have pacified the backlash, but it’s not a permanent solution.
The contents of the July 10 hotfix are unclear, so players should save their files and watch for the update. It may resolve the pregnancy issue, or it may not provide a solution. Anyway, the Enchanted by Nature expansion will bring fresh content to restore relief in the community.
