Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, recently responded to fears about artificial intelligence leaving millions unemployed. His statement came after Microsoft’s co-founder, Bill Gates, expressed concern about the exponential rise of AI that may cause mass unemployment.
Talking to Fox Business, Huang said the increasing infrastructure being developed for AI proves that many new jobs are being created by this technology. He highlighted chip manufacturing plants, packaging facilities, computer factories and AI-focused data centres as areas where demand for workers is increasing.
“Don’t forget the chip plants that are being created, packaging, computer plants, and all of the AI factories being created,” Huang said, pointing to the hundreds of thousands of jobs being created around these developments. He believes it is more accurate to view the change as a shift in the nature of work rather than the end of employment.
According to Huang, major technological breakthroughs have historically disrupted existing jobs while creating entirely new categories of work. He expects a similar pattern to emerge as AI becomes more deeply integrated into businesses. “Everybody’s job changes,” Huang said, while agreeing that some jobs will disappear and be replaced by others.

A key area Jensen Huang believes could benefit significantly is skilled labor. Electricians, plumbers, carpenters and other tradespeople could see stronger demand as companies build more factories and data centres to support the expanding AI industry.
