iPhone 17 brings a new feature that changes how selfies and video calls are captured. The 18MP Center Stage front camera replaces the older 12MP TrueDepth camera.
The new front camera gives sharper selfies and lets users switch between portrait and landscape modes without rotating the phone. A feature like this makes taking selfies easier and more flexible.
New Center Stage camera keeps users centered in the frame. Whether it is a solo selfie or a group photo, the camera adjusts automatically. This means everyone stays in the shot without having to move the phone. Portrait or landscape shots can now be taken with a simple tap, making selfies smoother and more natural.
During video calls, Center Stage keeps the user centered in the screen. Moving slightly does not affect framing. This feature works well for video calls, FaceTime, or Zoom, making conversations look professional and clear.
Open the Camera app from the home screen, lock screen, or Control Center. Switch to the front camera by tapping the camera icon. Make sure the Center Stage icon, which looks like a person in a square, is active. Tap the orientation button to switch between portrait and landscape modes. There is no need to rotate the phone.
Camera app lets users control framing manually. Zoom in or out using the zoom button. Turn off auto-rotate or auto-zoom to manually control orientation and framing. This provides more flexibility for taking selfies, videos, or group photos.
For group photographs, maintain a distance of approximately 10 feet around the camera for all participants. Best automatic framing is achieved when all faces are clear. A tripod or stand can be used for taking hands-free shots with a steady hand. Center stage and portrait mode combined offer a studio-like selfie experience.
