The iPhone 17 launch in India turned into a huge rush on Friday. Long lines formed outside Apple Stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune. Shops opened at 8 a.m., but people had already queued overnight to buy the latest models.
The biggest drama took place at Mumbai’s BKC Jio Centre. Videos showed scuffles as people pushed and tried to jump the line. Security staff blew whistles and stepped in to stop the fights. Some people were pulled out of the crowd. The tension rose as everyone wanted to be among the first few to buy the new iPhone 17 models.
In Delhi, at the Saket Select Citywalk Mall, the buyer queues stretched across two floors. Many had arrived as early as 1 a.m. Some even took leave from work to stand in line. A few buyers travelled from other states like Punjab, showing how strong the craze has become.
One shopper in Mumbai, Mohan Yadav, said the chaos happened because line-cutters went unchecked. He complained that security failed to stop them, and those waiting patiently lost their chance to buy.
Despite the steep prices, buyers stayed excited. The base iPhone 17 costs Rs. 82,900. The slim iPhone Air is priced at Rs. 1,19,900, while the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max models cost Rs. 1,34,900 and Rs. 1,49,900. The high prices did not stop the sales. Once the doors opened, the stock began moving quickly.
Police and mall staff had to control the crowds. In Mumbai, more than 300 people lined up in two rows. When some tried to break the rules, fights broke out. Security and police quickly removed the troublemakers. Shoppers were later allowed inside in small groups to keep things calm.
The rush was not only about owning the latest iPhone. The new features also attracted people. The iPhone 17 launch brought an upgraded chip, a brighter display, stronger glass, better cameras, and new colours. Buyers also wanted the prestige of being first to hold Apple’s latest product.
In the end, the iPhone 17 launch shows both excitement and chaos. From overnight waits to line fights, the day reflected India's growing hunger for Apple devices. Despite high prices and long queues, the demand stayed strong, proving Apple’s hold in the Indian market.
