Apple’s iOS 27 beta 5 reportedly reveals six unreleased iPhones through hidden battery management references. The developer update reached testers on August 10, ahead of Apple’s expected fall launches.
Macworld found internal codes for iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, iPhone 18, 18e, Air 2, and Ultra. The references appeared in battery drivers and Battery Intelligence files, suggesting iOS readiness for upcoming hardware.
The reported codes include V63 for iPhone 18 Pro and V64 for iPhone 18 Pro Max. V67 reportedly identifies iPhone 18, while V69 points to iPhone 18e. V62 links with iPhone Air 2, and V68 reportedly matches the iPhone Ultra.
The discovery matters most for the rumored iPhone Ultra, which could become Apple’s first foldable smartphone. Earlier iOS 27 beta findings reportedly indicated support for foldable displays and multiple battery configurations.
Apple may also change its traditional launch schedule with a split release plan. The premium iPhone 18 Pro models could arrive alongside the foldable Ultra this September. Standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and Air 2 may follow during spring 2027.
The battery-related references may hint at Apple’s efforts towards developing software for different power demands across upcoming devices. Foldable hardware could require new battery management for multiple cells and larger display configurations.
Still, the findings do not confirm Apple’s final product lineup, names, specifications, prices, or launch dates. Internal identifiers can change, while some planned devices may never reach consumers.
MacRumors also reported that Apple has not publicly confirmed any iPhone 18 models. The reported codes strengthen existing rumors, rather than establish official product details.
The possible foldable iPhone remains the biggest development from the leak. If launched, the Ultra could mark Apple’s biggest iPhone design shift in years.
