Rockstar Games has updated its pre-loading schedule for Grand Theft Auto 6, allowing console players to download the highly anticipated title earlier than previously expected. The studio has also confirmed that the game could require up to 212GB of storage, making advance preparation important for players.

Digital Pre-Loading Starts Nine Days Before Launch

According to Rockstar's announcement, digital pre-loading on PlayStation 5 will begin on Tuesday, November 10, at midnight in each player's local time zone. Xbox Series X|S users will also get access on November 10, but their downloads will start globally at 12 AM GMT.

The revised schedule moves the digital pre-load date forward by two days. Players who purchase the code-in-box editions will have to wait until November 12, when these versions are expected to become available at retailers.

GTA 6 Requires Up to 212GB of Storage

The download size is another major detail from Rockstar's announcement. The company confirmed that the pre-load file could require up to 212GB, depending on the device.

This means players may need to remove some existing games or other files to make room for the new release. Rockstar has advised users to ensure they have enough available storage before the pre-loading window opens.

The confirmed size also comes close to earlier reports suggesting that the game would require around 210GB of space.

Rockstar Announces Free Digital Map and Poster

Rockstar has also revealed plans to offer additional digital content on launch day. On November 19, the company will publish a printable cover art poster and a map of Leonida, the fictional setting of GTA 6, as free downloads on its official website.

A physical, double-sided version will be available shortly after launch through the Rockstar Store. It will cost USD 0.99 separately or be included as a free gift with any purchase from the store. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
