Grok AI, the generative chatbot of Elon Musk's xAI, has launched a risky feature called Spicy Mode, an NSFW adult-content generative service. This update is the Grok Imagine Mode, reserved as an iOS-only feature for SuperGrok and Premium Plus subscribers. Indian users can subscribe to SuperGrok for Rs. 700 monthly and gain access.
The new mode pairs with Custom, Fun, and Normal modes but is quite distinguished through profane output. Users enter text prompts or upload images and generate detailed photos or videos using Spicy Mode. The feature quickly went viral on X, with users sharing their results, from soft-core anime girls to hyper-realistic adult images.
Users open the Grok app on iOS to switch on Imagine Mode. After writing a prompt or loading images into the system, the users get several possibilities to render, including 'Make Video.' Upon completion of the production, one can tap the dropdown beside 'Redo' to enable Spicy Mode, which allows for mature content generation.
This direction sets Grok AI apart and goes off on a different path than mainstream tools such as Google Gemini and ChatGPT, which do not permit that content. The xAI chatbot has reportedly been creating videos using user-uploaded photos, even perhaps celebrity photos, something competitor platforms do not allow. Such leniency has been at the center of attention and caused controversies about the ethical use of such technology.
Although there is controversy, more people are using AI. Elon Musk announced on X that the platform had generated 14 million images up to August 4, which jumped to 20 million the next day. Musk shared that "Grok usage is growing like wildfire," suggesting that the bold approach resonates with specific audiences.
Shifting towards creating uncensored adult content showcases a deviation of Grok AI from traditional chatbot boundaries. While the xAI chatbot is a powerful and creative tool for image generation, Spicy Mode creates a new layer of controversy.
Unlike previous versions or competitors, this new one shows Grok entering the AI video generation and image manipulation territory while barely filtering the content. That is an excellent feature for users requiring complete creative freedom, but it raises many questions from a privacy standpoint.
The evolution of the chatbot into providing adult content and Spicy Mode video generation would be a double-edged innovation that would not fail to create ample opportunities for debate in AI ethics.
