Google will open preorders for its upcoming Googlebook laptops on September 21. The company announced the timeline through the official Googlebook website, which also outlines the devices’ software platform and Android integration.
Preorders for the first Googlebook laptops will open on September 21. Google’s website also lets users sign up for preorder notifications instead of ordering immediately. The company did not reveal pricing, the exact models available for pre-order, or shipment dates.
Googlebook first appeared during the Android Show I/O Edition in May. Several manufacturers will enter the new laptop category, including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Google did not confirm which models will go on sale first.
Google positions Googlebook as a new category of flagship laptops combining elements of ChromeOS and Android. Unlike existing Chromebooks, Googlebooks will use the Android technology stack while retaining the Chrome browser and access to Google Play Store apps.
The laptops will focus heavily on Gemini Intelligence. Google’s official website highlights Magic Pointer, which lets users select something on the screen and ask Gemini to analyze, compare, or create with it. Another feature, Create My Widget, lets users build custom widgets by simply asking Gemini.

Googlebook will also offer deeper integration with Android smartphones. Cast My Apps lets users open phone apps on the laptop without installing them separately. Quick Access lets users access files stored on their phones directly through the laptop’s file browser. These features require a phone running Android 17 or above.
Googlebook laptops will feature a distinctive Glowbar, which Google describes as a functional design element. The company is working with Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo on the first-generation devices, with different shapes, sizes, and hardware configurations expected across the lineup.
Google did not disclose Googlebook pricing or confirm shipping dates. The first devices are expected to become available this fall.
