Samsung has offered a behind-the-scenes look at how it manufactures the Galaxy Z Fold8, highlighting the engineering changes and quality checks involved in building its latest foldable smartphone. The company has also revealed that the device undergoes more than 100 reliability tests designed to assess its durability, display performance and long-term use.

According to Samsung, eight generations of foldable development have helped refine the balance between portability, strength, display quality and battery performance.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Uses Redesigned Components and Materials

The Galaxy Z Fold8 weighs 201 grams and measures 4.5mm when unfolded and 9.7mm when folded. Samsung said it reviewed around 270 main components and more than 180 types of auxiliary parts to achieve the slimmer design.

The changes cover the display, hinge, internal layout and material selection. Rather than using the strongest material for every part, Samsung says it chooses materials based on the mechanical requirements of individual components.

One example is Flex Titanium, which combines a thin titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium support plate around the folding display. Samsung claims this design makes the display module 10% thinner while maintaining structural support and flexibility.

The phone also uses Advanced Armor Aluminum for its frame, which is intended to provide rigidity without adding unnecessary weight.

Battery and Thermal Management Get Attention

According to Samsung, the revised internal structure creates more room for battery capacity and heat management. The Fold8 features a silicon-carbon anode, higher-performance graphite and Independent Charging Architecture. These changes are intended to support battery performance and thermal stability while keeping the device relatively thin and light.

More Than 100 Tests Check Durability

Samsung's automated quality assurance process includes over 100 reliability validation tests. These assessments examine repeated folding and unfolding, impact, pressure and exposure to particles.

The company evaluates how the display, hinge, frame and internal components work together under everyday stress. Samsung says this system-level approach helps identify potential weaknesses and improve long-term reliability.
