Employees trying to check their EPF balance or submit online requests may have to wait for a few days. EPFO services are temporarily unavailable as the Employees' Provident Fund Organization carries out a planned system upgrade. The financial entity says this move will improve the speed, security, and overall performance of its online platform.

The maintenance starts at 12:00 AM on June 26 and will continue until 11:59 PM on June 30, 2026. During this period, many online facilities will not work on the EPFO portal and the UMANG app. EPFO shared the update through its official member portal and social media accounts.

EPFO Services Affected During Upgrade

Members cannot submit new EPF claims, check the claim status, or download the EPF e-passbook during the upgrade. Existing claims will also remain pending until the maintenance ends. Employers cannot file an Electronic Challan cum Return, also known as ECR, during this period. EPFO advised employers to complete important filings before the shutdown begins.

The organization said the upgrade includes database improvements and better claims processing software. These changes will help the system work faster after the maintenance ends. The new platform will also provide stronger security and a smoother experience for both employees and employers.

What Members Can Do During the Maintenance

Members who submitted claims before June 26 do not need to worry. EPFO confirmed that all pending applications remain safe and will be processed after the services resume. People planning PF withdrawals, pension claims, or account transfers should wait until the maintenance period ends before submitting new requests.

Members can still use a few alternative options during the service break. The official SMS service and missed call facility can provide basic EPF balance details for registered users. The EPFO helpline also remains available for general support and account-related queries.

Services Expected to Resume on July 1

The temporary shutdown may delay some online workflows, although the upgrade aims to improve services in the long run. Faster claim processing, better security, and fewer technical problems should make the EPFO portal more reliable after the system becomes fully operational.

The upgrade also supports EPFO's larger digital plans. Reports suggest the improved platform will help introduce faster digital services and make future online transactions easier for members.

If everything goes as planned, EPFO services will return from 12:00 AM on July 1, 2026. Members will once again access the EPFO portal, UMANG app, EPF balance, and online EPF claims after the maintenance work finishes.
