XRP Ledger Adds Nearly 490,000 Accounts

XRP Ledger added 489,739 accounts during the first half of 2026, pushing its total to about 8.4 million as Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and broader financial applications expanded across the network.

Public XRPL data shows wallet creation remained strong during the six months, giving the blockchain another measure of growth as it seeks to expand beyond its traditional role in XRP payments and transfers.

Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin has become part of XRPL’s expanding payments infrastructure, creating additional reasons for individuals, exchanges, applications and businesses to establish accounts on the ledger.

White House Plans Meeting Over CLARITY Act

The White House has reportedly planned an Aug. 19 meeting with crypto and prediction market executives as Polymarket traders place the CLARITY Act’s 2026 passage odds at 21%.

Politico reported on Aug. 13 that the White House is expected to host executives from the crypto and prediction market sectors on Aug. 19, citing people familiar with the planned gathering.

According to the report, the White House has not disclosed a formal agenda or released a list of participants.

Executives from traditional financial companies may also attend, while it remains unclear whether President Donald Trump will take part.

Trezor Data Breach

Trezor warned 13,689 customers that their personal information was exposed after an unauthorized actor breached systems belonging to fulfillment provider ShipMonk.

The hardware wallet maker said ShipMonk notified it on Aug. 10 after discovering unauthorized access to systems containing customer order data. Trezor’s own infrastructure, devices and wallet backups were not compromised.

The incident affected customers in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy and Portugal.

Of those affected, 11,742 had their names, email addresses, phone numbers and shipping addresses exposed. Another 1,947 customers had names, cities and email addresses compromised.

Alpenglow Upgrade Targets 150 ms Finality

Solana plans to replace TowerBFT with Alpenglow, targeting roughly 150 ms finality and expected to activate with Agave 4.3, currently targeted for October 2026.

Alpenglow code is included in Agave 4.2 for testing but will not activate on mainnet until Agave 4.3. Agave 4.2 (stable 4.2.0 released Aug. 7; 4.2.1 pre-release Aug. 13) will also reduce slot times from 400 ms to 200 ms in four 50 ms steps starting the week of Aug. 17.

Alpenglow replaces TowerBFT with Votor, removes on-chain vote transactions, uses BLS aggregation, and expects a 1.6 $SOL validator admission ticket per epoch.

The governance vote passed with 98.27% support in Sept. 2025; an Alpenglow bug bounty (up to 50,000 SOL) runs Aug. 5-19.
