Battlefield 6 is preparing to introduce a dedicated server browser to address a long-standing complaint from players who want more control over their multiplayer experience. Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have confirmed that the feature is planned for Season 5, alongside new maps, multiplayer leaderboards and additional community tools.

The update is part of the developers’ efforts to improve the shooter based on feedback since its October 2025 launch. While Battlefield 6 already offers server discovery through Portal, players have repeatedly asked for a more traditional way to find official matches and stay connected with familiar communities.

Server Browser Will Give Players More Choice

The upcoming server browser will allow players to find matches more directly instead of relying entirely on automatic matchmaking. Battlefield Studios plans to make official servers easier to identify while supporting full progression and matchmaking-based backfilling.

The developers are also exploring ways to keep players together between rounds, making multiplayer sessions feel less fragmented. The feature will undergo testing through Battlefield Labs before its planned Season 5 release. Feedback from those tests could influence the final interface and available options.

Developers Address Matchmaking Complaints

The server browser is not intended to replace Battlefield 6’s existing matchmaking system. Instead, both options will work alongside each other. Developers have acknowledged complaints about matches starting with too many AI-controlled soldiers, uneven ticket counts, and players being placed on high-latency servers.

Another match-selection method could help address some frustrations, although the developers have not promised the browser will eliminate these problems. For longtime Battlefield players, choosing servers and building communities have been central to the franchise’s multiplayer identity.

Season 5 Will Bring More Community Features

The server browser is one of several Season 5 additions, expected in winter 2026. The update will also introduce Platoons, allowing players to create or join groups of up to 100 members. Multiplayer leaderboards and three new maps are planned as well.

Battlefield Studios has confirmed that one map will emphasize infantry combat, while the other two will focus on larger-scale combined-arms battles. Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City will also receive improvements later in the season.

A Significant Step for Battlefield 6

The planned server browser aims to restore a feature many fans associate with earlier Battlefield games. However, its success will depend on how well it works alongside matchmaking and whether persistent multiplayer communities can develop around it.

With testing still ahead, players will need to wait for further details before knowing exactly how the finished system will operate.
