Apple has added a new animated screensaver called Pro Light to macOS 27.3 beta 1. The update arrived on November 3, 2026, bringing the MacBook Pro's new PROLED XDR Display wallpaper to more Mac users. The animation brings Apple's latest laptop artwork to life with changing light and shadows.
The new screensaver takes inspiration from the wallpaper created for Apple's touchscreen MacBook Pro. Its design uses shiny, flowing lines that form the word ‘PRO.’ Instead of displaying a static image, Pro Light animates light as it moves slowly across the letters. Some parts become brighter while other sections gradually disappear into darkness.
The animation gives the original wallpaper a different look on Mac screens. Apple also uses a slower version of the animation for macOS. This creates a softer effect that works well as a screensaver.
However, the original wallpaper has received mixed reactions from users. Some people feel its metallic lines resemble a damaged or glitchy display. The Pro Light screensaver currently appears in the first developer beta of macOS 27.3.
Apple could still make changes before the company releases the final version. Its arrival does not mean the screensaver only works on the new MacBook Pro.
Mac users can check the available screensavers after installing macOS 27.3 beta. The option should appear under System Settings > Wallpaper > Screen Saver. Users can then look through the available designs for Pro Light.
Apple continues its tradition of creating special wallpapers for new Mac launches. This time, the company has turned its latest MacBook Pro artwork into an animated screensaver. The addition gives Mac users another way to enjoy the new Pro design without purchasing the latest laptop.
