Apple will roll out iOS 27, the latest software for iPhone users. The release was announced at WWDC 2026 on June 8 and was followed by beta versions for developers and public testing. iOS 27 introduces several changes, with artificial intelligence as one of the main focuses of the update.
iOS 27 is going to be released by Apple sometime in September 2026. Although the exact release date is unknown, the company has confirmed that the update will be released in 2026.
The software update will follow Apple's normal release schedule, meaning it will be rolled out around the time of the company's new iPhone releases. Apple plans to hold an event on September 9, where it is expected to unveil its newest models, including iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its foldable smartphone.
The iOS 27 software update will be released around this time too.
Artificial intelligence is among the biggest areas of focus in iOS 27. Apple is introducing a more capable Siri, designed to understand natural language better and provide more useful assistance.
The update also brings AI-powered features to Photos, including tools for changing and editing images. Siri is also being integrated into the Camera experience. It can use what the camera is seeing to help users find information about objects and subjects in front of the iPhone.
Apple is also adding new child safety features, along with broader improvements to performance, Search, design, and Liquid Glass.

iOS 27 will be compatible with iPhone devices from the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation). But one thing Apple has made clear is that not all supported iPhones will get all the AI features.
The list of supported models consists of iPhone 17 series, iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 series, iPhone 14 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, and iPhone SE (2nd generation onwards).
As September approaches and iOS 27 nears its launch, the operating system promises to roll out AI-based features, security enhancements, and system-level changes.
