Apple is ready to roll out iOS 26.1. iOS 26 went live globally for Apple users in September 2025, and the mid-cycle update is also expected to arrive early in November. The exact date hasn’t yet been announced, but the Release Candidate version is now available to testers and beta developers. Generally, the public version comes a week or two later.
iOS 26.1 promises a smoother navigation experience, enhanced security, and refinements to the iPhone's overall experience. Apple, with iOS 26.1, focuses on everyday use rather than introducing headline features.
The official rollout of the update hasn’t yet been scheduled for the global audience. However, the RC version went live on October 31. Therefore, users and industry experts expect the public version to be out in the first week of November 2025. The update follows the major iOS 26 release earlier this year and aims to refine Apple’s latest software experience with subtle yet impactful improvements.
Once it’s out, users can easily install it on their devices. First, they have to head to Settings. From there, they should go to General and tap on Software Update to install it. Users who have enrolled in Apple’s Public Beta Program have already received access to the iOS 26.1 Release Candidate version. To avoid installation issues, users are advised to connect to Wi-Fi. Additionally, ensure your iPhone has at least 50% battery and that all data is backed up.
While the iOS 26.1 update doesn't represent a drastic change, it includes several interface updates and usability enhancements. In particular, one of the most eye-catching new features is the 'Liquid Glass' display option, which offers users the transparent or tinted UI options to help with legibility.
Apple also worked to address common usability complaints: users can now disable the lock-screen shortcut that unintentionally launches the camera app. Among the returning features, the ‘slide to stop’ gesture returns to help users dismiss alarms and timers.
The revision also enhances Apple Music's mini-player with left-right swipe functionality to skip tracks and introduces background security updates for silently downloading and applying critical updates.
iOS 26.1 also enhances Live Translate and Apple Intelligence language capabilities, providing an improved experience for AirPods users and advancing the overall Apple multilingual AI system.
