Claude AI Chatbot Faces Outage: What Users are Reporting

Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude is facing an outage globally, including in India. On Downdetector, an online outage monitoring platform, more than 200 users in India have reported problems with the AI service. Around 46 per cent of users reported that they are struggling to use Claude Chat, while 40 per cent report issues with the website. The remaining 15 per cent reported facing issues with the app.

The company is yet to share an official statement regarding the outage.

Users Left Clueless

Frustrated users headed to X (formerly Twitter) to share their experiences and look out for updates. While one user posted, ‘Claude is down, and ChatGPT is too dumb for the task and Gemini interface sucks. What should I do,’ another wrote, ‘Working on a really good project without using AI at all…One bug shows up and I finally decide to use Claude and Claude goes down.’

Previous Claude Outage

This is the second time in March that Claude faced a global outage. Earlier on March 2, 2026, Anthropic posted on its Claude status page that it was investigating "elevated errors" occurring with the Claude chatbot, Claude Opus 4.6, Claude Console, and Claude Code.

"We have discovered that some API methods are not working and we are investigating," the company further wrote on the Claude status page, about everything but Claude Opus 4.6.

The Bigger Picture: Reliability Challenges in AI Platforms

Anthropic is a US-based artificial intelligence company founded in 2021. It focuses on building advanced AI systems with strong safety and ethical safeguards. The company was started by former OpenAI researchers and works on developing reliable and controllable AI models. Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant.

The outage highlights growing concerns around AI platform reliability as dependence increases. Companies like Anthropic must prioritise uptime, transparency, and robust infrastructure to maintain user trust, especially as tools like Claude become integral to daily workflows.
