Google is hiring a Silicon AI/ML Architect to design next-generation custom silicon solutions that power Google Cloud and data-center AI accelerators. This role focuses on defining, architecting, and implementing high-performance hardware systems while collaborating closely with software, verification, emulation, and physical design teams. Their work will directly influence the performance, efficiency, and innovation of Google's flagship hardware technologies used by millions worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluate silicon solutions for Google’s data-center AI accelerator roadmap, including vendor co-developments and custom chiplets.

  • Establish cutting-edge, high-power hardware/software interfaces for the supporting of massive AI workloads.

  • Cooperating with teams dealing with software, verification, emulation, silicon validation, physical design, and packaging to build strong architecture.

  • Take responsibility for the microarchitecture of compute-intensive IPs and hardware subsystems, taking care of both precision and speed.

  • Drive improvements in power, performance, and area (PPA) across modules and subsystems of their own.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

  • 8 years’ experience in micro-architecture and designing graphics or ML IPs with low/mixed-precision numerics.

  • 5 years’ experience architecting networking ASICs from specification through production.

  • Expertise in micro-architecture, design, verification, logic synthesis, and timing closure.

  • Experience developing RTL for ASIC subsystems using SystemVerilog.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience working with software teams to optimize the hardware/software interface.

  • Strong knowledge of performance modeling, analysis, and performance test plans.

  • Proficiency in C++, Python, or Go.

  • Knowledge of arithmetic units, bus architectures, accelerators, memory hierarchies, and low-power/high-performance design techniques.
