Senior Applied AI Scientist, Microsoft

Microsoft is on the lookout for a Senior Applied AI Scientist whose main task will be to come up with and execute cutting-edge AI and ML solutions that would utilize large language models, generative AI and intelligent agents as their core. 

The person in this position will perform research, train the models, optimize their performance, and interact with the different teams in the company to upgrade Microsoft Security's AI features. As a result, the company will be able to offer solutions that are not only secure but also scalable and innovative, thus revolutionizing the whole area of digital defense.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Create, construct, and implement complete AI/ML solutions covering the stages of model training, assessment, and production integration. 

• Use and improve applications based on the use of frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack, Transformers, and DSPy. 

• Experiment with GenAI technology through prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and model fine-tuning. 

• Work together with multi-functional teams to convert intricate business requirements into AI models which can be scaled up. 

• Develop professional-quality code in Python and C# that is efficient, dependable, and able to grow in size. Monitor GenAI trends, come up with new techniques and improve AI models repeatedly.

Required / Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.

• 7+ years of experience in Data Science.

• 5+ years in engineering with proficiency in C#, Python, and PyTorch.

• Experience deploying large-scale ML/AI-based services on Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Hands-on experience with LLMs, agent-based orchestration, and open-source GenAI frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in fine-tuning and evaluation of LLMs.

• Proven track record of shipping AI-driven applications in production.

• Strong understanding of cloud AI architectures, model optimization, and ethical AI principles.

• Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills.
