Establish, develop, and maintain the enterprise-wide data architecture strategy in the areas of modeling, governance, metadata, lineage, and standards for working with accessing data.
Develop and deliver reference architectures, reusable frameworks, and scalable patterns using tools for ER Modeling and principles of the modern data stack.
Communicate across Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, and Operations to understand complex business problems deeply and translate those issues into technical solutions.
Provide strategic advice, guidance, and hands-on oversight of the design of data pipeline, performance tuning, and overall data flow architecture – to ensure that systems are scalable, secure, and future-proof.
Lead architecture reviews and mentor engineering teams on data modeling best practices, observability, reliability and compliance.
Create workflows and prototype data flowing using Generative AI tools (e.g., for documentation, where the tool will auto-generate metadata catalogs, etc.) to help expedite engineering workflows and increase engineer productivity.
Engage with product and analytics teams to influence the development of the data ecosystem in alignment with GSSM's overarching business strategy and global reporting objectives.
Actively advocate and encourage for data quality, governance, and usability of data platforms by creating and maintaining systems of record are trusted sources of truth, that are accessible, and available under compliance and privacy metrics.
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a similarly technical field.
Eight plus years of experience in data engineering, with a minimum of three years as a data architect or a technical leadership position in an enterprise environment.
Deep understanding of data modeling (both relational and dimensional), schema design, and enterprise data architecture patterns.
Broad experience with distributed data platforms and tools (e.g., Spark. Kafka, Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Kubernetes, Snowflake, BigQuery).
Experience with at least one programming language (Scala, Java, and Python) and experienced with SQL.
Experience designing data solutions that serve enterprise scale across various business functions like Supply Chain, Finance or Procurement.
Hands-on experience with the principal components of pipeline architecture, observability, and systems optimization.
Strong understanding of best practices in data privacy, governance and security including anonymization and other compliance.
Willingness and ability to leverage and seamlessly introduce GenAI tools into engineering processes for prototyping, documentation, and solutions architecture.
Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills to connect with technical and non-technical audiences.
Familiarity with any data landscape/function in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Enterprise Systems is a strong asset.
Familiarity with key concepts of machine learning and predictive analytics or equivalent experience applying machine learning and predictive analytics concepts into data engineering pipelines.
Ability to take complex systems and creatively communicate and formulate stories for executives to highlight to diverse audiences.
