Applied Research Scientist, AI Models & Agents, AMD
AMD is looking for an Applied Research Scientist in Bengaluru to work on the next generation of AI models and agents with a concentration on LLMs, LMMs, and generative AI. The applicant will be responsible for creating new model architectures, and enhancing the performance of AMD accelerators during training/inference, plus being part of open source and academic research. The ideal candidate will have strong Python, deep learning, and distributed training experience.

Primary Responsibility
Research and improve generative AI model architectures on AMD accelerators.
Accelerate training and inference through performance optimizations.
Build AI agents to automatically generate and evaluate efficient code/kernels.
Contribute to infrastructure improvements and development ecosystem.
Publish research in top-tier conferences, workshops, and technical blogs.
Engage with academia and open-source ML communities.
Preferred Experience
Strong Python development and debugging skills.
Deep Learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and distributed training tools are the areas of proficiency.
Understanding of transformations, state space models, and generative AI techniques.
Using the HIP, CUDA, Triton, or similar technologies for writing kernels
Strong publication record in AI/ML research.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Passion for learning and innovating in AI research.
Academic Requirements
Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Machine Learning, AI, Computer Science, or related field.
Exceptional Bachelor’s degree candidates with significant research experience may also be considered.
