

IBM is looking for an advisory data science engineer to advance some of the systems that will propel the quantum revolution as well as enable AI innovation. The preferred candidate will join the hardware engineering department, helping to advance IBM's first chip design improvements by performing advanced data analysis and AI/ML applications.
This role will focus on building scalable pipelines, developing insights-based analytics, and creating improved decision-making capabilities throughout IBM's trusted hardware platforms.

Analyze data for the chip design and reliability teams at IBM in order to enhance performance and yield.
Develop data pipelines, dashboards, and other visualizations for test results and performance metrics.
Work with hardware design teams to convert data insights into yield factors, defects, and performance.
Implement machine learning to predict yield, detect defects, and correlate performance.
Effectively communicate findings through reports, dashboards, and presentations.
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Master’s Degree
Strong understanding of probability, statistical theory, experimental design, and hypothesis testing;
Experience with coding in Python and libraries (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib/plotly);
Familiarity with SQL, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and machine learning;
Project experience, managing large structured/unstructured datasets;
Outstanding analytical, problem-solving and communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to work successfully as a team member on hardware projects contributing to design and reliability.
Understanding of VLSI domain concepts, and hardware testing in semiconductors.
Familiarity with analyzing hardware test data and the chip manufacturing process.
