Samsung will enable users to manually disable thermal throttling in its next One UI 7 update. Thermal throttling is an activity that protects the inner workings of devices from overheating. Thus, allowing for better gaming performance on its smartphones.
Samsung announced the One UI 7 update based on Android 15, last month. The latest rumours hint at a beta release of this update later in the month.
Tipster @chunvn8888 discovered a feature called "Disable Thermal Throttling" in the Developer Options of One UI 7. This feature would give users manual control over thermal throttling, bypassing the automatic slowdown of the processor and other components to prevent overheating. This could increase frame rates and reduce lag in games, but it risks the longevity of the smartphone.
Earlier versions of One UI 6 sported a similar feature, via third-party app access. However, it was stripped out in later releases. Therefore, raising questions that Samsung no longer provides enough control to users of their devices.
Although Samsung has not confirmed its concrete release roadmap to the One UI 7 version. However, the smartphone giant announced that the beta release of this software will reach out to all users instead of just registered developers. The update regarding the rollout is expected to come with a push notification through the Samsung Members app.
According to Samsung, the three main objectives of One UI 7 are purposeful simplicity, signature-impression, and emotional attachment.
The update will understand user intentions much better and will simplify the complex process, all while having familiar design elements that Samsung Galaxy users have grown accustomed to.
As the release of the beta version of One UI 7 is near, gamers are now looking forward to the possibility of improved gaming performance.
