April's Community Day features Vanillite in Pokemon Go. The event runs on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., local time. Trainers will catch the Fresh Snow Pokemon by the truckload with far better odds at encountering a Shiny. The ice-type Pokemon comes with rewards and features of the ongoing season: Might and Mastery.
Vanillite is an Ice-type Pokemon introduced in Generation 5 (Unova region). The evolution chain starts from Vanillite to Vanillish on getting 25 candy and then to Vanilluxe on getting a further 100 candies. Vanilluxe can get to a maximum of about 2,700 CP at level 40 and makes a fine ice-type attacker for raids and battles.
The best part of this Community Day is the exclusive charged attack, Avalanche, for which trainers will need to evolve Vanillish anytime from the start of the event until May 4, 2025, at 10:00 PM local time to obtain a Vanilluxe knowing this move. Avalanche will deal 90 damage in Trainer Battles and 85 damage in Gyms and raids, which is considerably better than other ice charged attacks like Ice Beam.
Three hours of this Community Day are packed with so many bonuses:
3× XP for catching Pokémon
2× Candy for catching Pokémon
2× chance for Trainers levels 31+ to receive Candy XL
Lure Modules and Incense will last for three hours
Take snapshots; maybe, a special surprise awaits you
Also, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. local time, trainers will be allowed to make one extra Special Trade (two total), with reduced Stardust cost at 50%. This wider window gives more chances for everyone to trade for better IVs or to share with friends that may have missed the event.
A special Might and Mastery-themed Background is introduced for Vanillite encounters, similar to the Bug Out event that revamped the visuals of featured Pokemon. These will be obtainable through Field Research tasks and a Timed Research opportunity for a week after the event.
For USD$2.00, trainers can buy exclusive Special Research, which consists of:
3 encounters with Vanillite and Might and Mastery-themed Special Background
Some regular Vanillite encounters
1 Premium Battle Pass
1 Rare Candy XL
Various other rewards
The game will offer two Community Day bundles in the shop:
Premium Bundle (1,350 PokéCoins): 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, one Elite Charged TM, and five Lucky Eggs
Basic Bundle (480 PokéCoins): 30 Ultra Balls, one Incense, three Super Incubators, and one Lure Module
An Ultra Community Day Box featuring 2 Rare Candies and one Special Research ticket, will also be available for USD$1.99 in the Pokemon GO Web Store. This monetizing strategy has been consistent with Pokemon Go's success story from launch until date.
To maximize this Community Day, trainers should:
1. Clear Pokémon and item storage beforehand
2. Acquire Pinap Berries to double the candy gain (effectively 4× with the event bonus)
3. Use Star Pieces to maximize Stardust gain from catches
4. Visit areas with high spawn density like parks and shopping centers
5. Save some good IV Vanillite and evolve it for PvP leagues after the event
Fast-catching techniques will be paramount in maximizing encounter time during the three-hour window. Definitely check IVs before mass transferring since perfect specimens are worth keeping for collection and battling!
Niantic has encouraged community play during the event via their Community Day map. This feature helps you locate Community Ambassador events and popular local parks where trainers gather. After Niantic sold its games arm to Scopely recently, the initiative seems a way to reinstate community engagement through these features.
Trainers can also use Campfire to locate meetups in their area. Playing as a large group is not only more fun socially but will also afford tips in trades and shared lures and conditions.
The Vanillite Community Day does uphold Pokemon Go's tradition of hosting monthly Events with featured Pokémon, exclusive moves, and extra bonuses. With enough time for the evolution window until May 4, trainers have ample time assessing their catches and evolving their best specimens.
Visit the official Pokemon GO event page for comprehensive details on every feature and bonus during the event. Trainers who want to curate their gaming calendar can also find the event schedule here to prepare for upcoming activities in the world of Pokemon Go.
Whether hardcore or casual, this Community Day features something for all: Collection opportunities and battle-ready Pokemon with exclusive moves.
