Assassin’s Creed community is speculating on a remake version of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which was recently hinted at by leaked footage.
Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed anything about this game yet, but speculations are going wild about Edward’s revised appearance.
If the remake happens, Ubisoft have to take care of certain aspects that will ensure the success of this game in the modern time.
The gaming community is ever-evolving. Something is always happening there. At a point when the entire gaming community is speculating about the features and gameplay of GTA 6, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is making its way into the discussion. A potential leak hints at a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
This beloved installment of the Assassin's Creed series was initially launched in 2013 and captivated the hearts of gamers with a pirate-themed narrative and expansive open-world exploration. Since 2023, the rumor of a modern overhaul of the game has been in the air; it seems it’s now confirmed after the clips from a recent livestream by PureArts came to light.
In the modern age, almost everything has become virtual. To be more precise, video gaming itself is a virtual thing. However, gamers still love collecting statues of their beloved in-game characters. Here comes PureArts, a merch maker that deals with the statues of Assassin’s Creed characters.
The current lineup of the company has almost all the hooded characters, including Ezio, Altair, Kassandra, and Bayek. Surprisingly, Black Flag’s Edward Kenway is missing. This has fueled up the excitement among fans about something’s cooking.
The most rumored possibility is the remake of the game. While Ubisoft has not officially confirmed anything about this remake, sources have brought to light a clip from months back in March. In that stream, PureArts showcased some of the statues of characters from the Assassin's Creed series.
When the topic of Edward’s absence came to light, a PureArts staff member stated, “Assassin's Creed fans out there, you should be aware that something is going on with Edward.”
Since this clip has surfaced, players have been assuming the statue of Edward hasn’t yet been made because his appearance would probably be changed in the remake of the game. However, if the remake is really in the works, it would likely involve significant updates to improve the game’s graphics, mechanics, and storyline to match the modern gaming standards.

In this modern remake era, a remake version of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is highly possible. This will allow Ubisoft to reintroduce Edward Kenway and his journey to the new generation of gamers. However, that requires certain improvements. So, below is the list of changes that the remake version may bring:
Graphics and Visuals: These are the two most essential features that a game should focus on. Ubisoft can easily switch to Unreal Engine 5 for the remake to deliver more realistic environments and visual effects.
Gameplay Mechanics: The next thing that the developer should try to improve in the remake is the combat and stealth systems. The naval battle mechanism must be portrayed carefully to match contemporary gameplay expectations.
Expanded Content: The next thing that Black Flag Remake must focus on is introducing new missions, side quests, and expansion of the storyline to add depth and context to Edward’s journey.
Whether this remake will ever come or not isn’t sure, but it will surely revitalize the classic title and bridge the gap between old and new entries to attract new-gen players.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the latest installment of the franchise, was released just a few months back. While Ubisoft has more Assassin’s Creed titles in their future lineup, it is not yet declared whether the Black Flag remake is among them or not. However, fans expect Ubisoft to unveil this remake at the Summer Games Fest 2025.
A remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag holds the potential to blend the nostalgic charm of the OG game while adding modern advancements to attract newcomers. It’s not sure whether Edward Kenway is getting a renewed appearance, but the speculations have created a wave of excitement among fans, highlighting how eagerly they are waiting for a remake version.
