Key Takeaways

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows players received the first collaboration of the game that’s also with Dead by Daylight.

  • This collaboration has introduced loads of fresh content and a free new quest for players to complete.

  • Even AC Shadows players can now access a quest which was initially for those who have pre-ordered the game.

Ubisoft’s latest Assassin’s Creed game completed the first two months of its glorious run. After several failures, the success of this game was essential for Ubisoft. Despite several issues, fortunately fans loved this game a lot, especially the depiction of 16th-century feudal Japan. As the two months run is over, AC Shadows just received a significant update that has brought unexpected content and features to the game.

The latest Assassin’s Creed Shadows update was released on May 27, 2025, and can be downloaded across different platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Notably, this update includes loads of quality-of-life improvements and a brand-new free quest. The most unexpected part of this update is its collaboration with Dead by Daylight.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Unlocking New Adventures and Features

The latest update, patch 1.0.5, has brought a bunch of updates to make the gameplay more exciting than before. The first thing that players have probably noticed is that it has unlocked a new quest: Thrown to the Dogs. This quest isn’t a new addition, but it was previously in the game for those who have pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

After the update has come, players can dive into the quest once they complete the From Spark to Flame quest. Once this is done, they have to make their way to the Tennoji Temple, which is located outside of Osaka, to trigger the Thrown to the Dogs quest. This quest wants players to help a loyal dog avenge his late master. Completing this quest will unlock Tsuki-maru as a pet to place in players’ hideouts.

In addition to the new content, players have now received an improved version of the parkour feature, making traversal through the game easier with more fluid and responsive movements. The combat system of the game is also refined in this update with adjustments to enemy AI and hit directions. These changes ensure a smoother and more balanced combat experience.

Moreover, this update has addressed several performance issues and bugs that community players have been consistently reporting. Ubisoft has improved the game’s stability issues across all the platforms, reducing instances of crashes and FPS drops. These changes allow players to dive into a smoother and more engaging in-game journey.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Dead by Daylight

Aside from everything else, this update has brought an unexpected collaboration between AC Shadows and Dead by Daylight. This is the highlight of this update. AC Shadows and Dead by Daylight belong to two different gaming genres.

Ubisoft has merged these two worlds in the collaboration to create a new experience. The description reads, “As villagers begin to disappear, Naoe becomes suspicious of the strange presence attacking the local people of Harima. To succeed, you will need to master unique mechanics and confront a formidable otherworldly threat...”

This event comes with a free quest, and upon completing it, players will unlock a free trinket and banner that are inspired by Balatro. Additionally, players will get a lot more customization options to enhance the vibe with Dead by Daylight outfits, weapons, and other in-game items. However, the ‘Winning Hand’ amulet for Yasuke especially suits the vibe of this crossover.

Conclusion

Games getting new updates seems nothing new, but what makes the latest AC Shadows patch, 1.0.5, unique is the collaboration with Dead by Daylight. It marks a significant milestone in the history of Ubisoft and AC Shadows. While the bug fixes have improved the gameplay, this collaboration marks the introduction of fresh content.

Ubisoft has already released the one-year post-launch roadmap for players, and it clearly states that the game will get an expansion later this year named Claws of Awaji. This will take players to a new, distinctive region, the island of Awaji, to complete tasks and explore secrets. The release date is still unknown, but this expansion program indicates Ubisoft has long-term plans for this game.
