Although it is against the law to stalk young children in the United States, this doesn't stop them from doing it. Child privacy has been the primary concern in the country and for this, an app about child privacy has been launched recently on the Apple App store for kids.
Over two-thirds of the most popular iPhone games for kids currently available collect and share user data, according to a recent Pixalate survey. By the time a youngster reaches the legal drinking age, the data is amassed – according to some estimates, an average of 72 million data points. Kids' digital privacy is not a concern. The security firm Disconnect has released new kids' privacy app that seeks to take action. The Apple App Store last week saw the release of the Do Not Track Kids app, which eliminates trackers on your smartphone while educating kids about privacy.
"When you put that in the context of children, there's something spooky about it," Disconnect CEO Casey Oppenheim told Gizmodo. "The point of all this data collection is to influence your behavior, whether it's getting you to buy a product, encouraging compulsive behavior, or even promoting an ideology."
Many apps, websites, and even emails have undetected trackers that gather information about you in the background. Apple makes a great fuss out of the fact that its privacy settings shield you from all of this, but the business might receive more praise than is appropriate. Although the settings on your iPhone can affect this, tech corporations are still virtually continuously snooping on you and your family.
Disconnect claims that Do Not Track Kids go even further: after installing it on whatever iPhone or iPad your child is using and making a brief modification to your device's settings, the app will launch automatically, largely to prevent data collecting.
While Do Not Track Kids has features to disable trackers in your email inbox and services that use your smartphone to mine cryptocurrencies, app tracking is still possible. Your DNS (Domain Name System) connections are also encrypted and filtered by the program, making it more difficult for your carrier and internet service provider to track you. In addition, Disconnect claims that it doesn't combine any information that you don't freely submit, so you don't have to worry about the business utilizing your data improperly.
