The Data Science Major degree program combines computational and inferential thinking to draw conclusions based on information from a few perspectives of the genuine world. Data scientists come from all walks of life, all zones of consideration, and all foundations. They share an appreciation for the practical utilization of scientific and logical consideration and the control of computing to analyze and solve issues for business, research, and societal impact.
The Data Science Major will prepare candidates to draw sound conclusions from information in context, utilizing information on statistical inference, computational processes, data management methodologies, domain information, and hypothesis. Candidates will learn to examine data through the entire cycle of investigative handling in logical and practical settings. Candidates will gain an understanding of the human and moral suggestions of data analytics and coordinate that information in planning and carrying out their work. Before applying for a data science major at UC Berkeley, one should know when to apply.
The application for the Data Science major is open from the 4th week of each term through the week after Finals, including the Summer. One should submit your application by the last 3 weeks of the term, during which you will total your prerequisites.
The first day to apply with prerequisites in advance in Spring 2024 is April 22, 2024. UC Berkeley will consider applications after final grades are available, so candidates must anticipate an answer in late May or June. Summer 2024: TBD—Due to the looming exchange of majors from L&S to CDSS, which will take place during summer 2024, we do not yet know when the summer application will be available.
Per L&S arrangement, students who announce that they are including Data Science as a double major or changing to the Data Science major must announce before the first day of their last term in participation. There is yet to be a due date for declaring Data Science as a single major.
New first-year candidates admitted in Drop 2023, if not explicitly admitted in the Data Science major, may apply to declare Data Science when the CDSS comprehensive survey process is accessible.
New exchange students admitted in Drop 2023 or Spring 2024, if not explicitly declared in the Data Science major, may alter to or include Data Science by the end of their second semester in attendance.
New candidates admitted in Drop 2024 or afterward, if not declared directly in the Data Science major, may apply to declare Data Science when the CDSS comprehensive audit handle is accessible.
Utilize the "Qualification to Apply by Semester of Admission" tabs to decide if you will apply utilizing a comprehensive survey or prerequisites. The university offers diverse applications for Data Science majors, ranging from machine learning to big data analytics.
The comprehensive survey application is scheduled to open once a year, starting January 2025. Check back in Drop 2024 for more data about this modern preparation.

● Transfer your completed shapes through the application interface below.
● Once your application has been affirmed, the change will be reflected on CalCentral.
Applications are ordinarily handled within 10 business days after accommodation OR after your last prerequisite grades are available.
● Complete the Data Science BA worksheet and either the L&S Double Major Application or Simultaneous Degrees Application (you may get advisor marks from your other significant first, but this is not required). Note: Candidates applying to include Data Science as a second major with an L&S major must proceed to utilize the L&S Double Major application frame for Spring 2024 until the majors formally exchange into the College of CDSS in Summer 2024.

● Once your application has been endorsed, a Data Science Advisor will e-mail you back with your marked forms. You will need to get any other required marks and submit your completed application to your College Exhorting office for last approval.
