Ethereum's outlook is under fire after an early investor argued the ETH price won't recover until Vitalik Buterin leaves. While the Ethereum ETF is gaining traction, slow innovation and stiff competition have raised doubts about its long-term dominance. As rival blockchains gain traction, analysts question whether Ethereum can reclaim its position or if leadership changes are needed for a real ETH price breakout in 2025.
Despite price swings, institutional adoption of Ethereum continues to gain momentum. Lido’s v3 upgrade has improved Ethereum staking with modular smart contracts, enhancing its DeFi presence and attracting institutional investors. Meanwhile, ShutterNetwork has introduced Ethereum’s first encrypted mempool framework, strengthening transaction privacy and security. As the Ethereum ETF market expands, investment banks are increasing their exposure, fueling optimism for long-term growth.
Goldman Sachs significantly increased its exposure to Ethereum ETFs in Q4 2024, increasing its holdings by 2,000%. The firm now holds $476 million worth of Ethereum ETF shares, split between BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) and Fidelity’s Ethereum Fund (FETH), with an additional $6.3 million invested in Grayscale’s Ethereum Trust ETF (ETHE). This surge in institutional interest indicates that Ethereum ETF products are gaining traction despite the ongoing ETH price correction.
According to SoSoValue data, Ethereum ETF inflows remained strong between February 3 and February 7, totaling $420 million. BlackRock’s ETHA led the market with $287 million in net inflows, pushing its historical total to $4.42 billion. Fidelity's FETH followed with a weekly inflow of $97.28 million, totaling $1.51 billion. These investments demonstrate that Ethereum ETF products are sought after and further bolster Ethereum as an institutional asset.
Despite Ethereum's network expansion, the ETH price has been in short-term decline. The ETH price dropped 3.25% to $2,630 within the last twenty-four hours, and trading volume grew by 11.97% to $20.26 billion. However, analysts remain optimistic, anticipating new highs for the ETH price as the Ethereum ETF surges and constant network upgrades continue.
Experts predict the ETH price to reach $13,000 to $15,000 by the end of 2025 if ecosystem innovations succeed. A moderate prediction values the ETH price at $10,000 by mid-late 2025, while a more conservative estimation predicts that the $10,000 milestone might not happen in 2025.
