The lawsuit between the US Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) and Ripple Labs, the company behind the XRP token, has been raging on for quite a while now. The crypto community is left wondering if there is any end in sight for this case.
Pro-Ripple lawyer John Deaton says that the deadline for the judge's decision could range from hours to months. "There is no deadline of today for her to rule. The decision could come out within the next hour, or it could take another 30-60 days. Based on previous cases, Judge Torres has issued her ruling on summary judgement within a couple of months of her Daubert/Experts' decision," Deaton said in a tweet.
In December 2020, the SEC sued Ripple Labs for holding an illegal coin offering of XRP tokens without registering the coin as a security. Last week has not been good for XRP, with its price declining by 9.83% and its 24-hour trading volume down by 9.82%.
