Check the information on how cloud computing will be the future of software delivery

The cloud is nothing more than a collection of data scattered across a computer network. It lets a customer specify their needs for computing resources.

Public cloud, private cloud, community cloud, and hybrid cloud are the four types of cloud. Services for the general public are offered through a public cloud. Services in a private cloud are only available to employees of an organization. A community cloud is used to provide services to a specific group of people and organizations, and a hybrid cloud is just a combination of the three previously mentioned types.

Previously, we communicated with one another via telegram and postal letters; however, a technological revolution has made communication extremely quick. Cloud computing, which was developed in the 1960s by Joseph Carl Robnett Licklider, is one of the most recent communication technologies on the market.

We refer to cloud computing as the underlying technology behind Gmail, social networking websites, mobile applications, and other similar services that function and enable users located in various parts of the world to seamlessly communicate with one another.

Therefore, we can stream videos, use social media, browse websites, and stream news from any device with an internet connection, thanks to the cloud. A cloud is a global network of connected remote servers that function as a single entity in technical terms. Chances for the cloud in the future of Software delivery are relatively high.

CD-ROMs and hard drives were the standard delivery medium for software.

CD-ROMs:

  • In the 1990s, CD-ROMs were primarily used for computer software and data distribution. After being written to the CD-ROM, the software is used for distribution.
  • Because these devices are read-only, distribution is free of manipulation and piracy, and users can only read data from them.
  • CD-ROM was used to distribute operating systems, gaming consoles like the Nintendo GameCube and Sega Genesis, and Sony PlayStation. Customers are required to purchase one of these CDROMs before using them to install the necessary software on their devices.

Hard Drives:

  • Hard drives are electro-mechanical data storage devices that store data using magnetic storage. A hard drive is also used to retrieve digital data from one or more rotating disks coated with a magnetic material.
  • Any kind of data, including images, music, videos, and text documents, can be stored in these.
  • In terms of software delivery, these devices offer more functionality than a CD-ROM because they are a non-volatile storage format.
  • The larger capacity of the hard drives makes it simpler to distribute multiple software packages. However, because of this, there is also a problem with hard drives: some of the capacity isn't available to the user because it is used by the operating system, the file system, and the built-in error correction and recovery functions.
  • Software engineering must not only monitor the development processes but also ensure that the developed software is effectively delivered to end users. Deployment and upkeep of software are the primary components of this.
  • By making it simple for service providers to deploy and maintain applications through service virtualization, cloud computing makes it possible for users to access and use applications, and providers can manage the quality of service through dynamic resource virtualization. Cloud computing is a powerful method of software delivery because of these features.
  • Security concerns are the primary impediment to the Cloud for Software Delivery

However, today's cloud service providers have not only improved their security but have also avoided previous breaches.

  • The public interest is the primary concern; they won't be able to stop cloud computing from becoming the way software is delivered in the future if they have complete faith in its potential.
