Summary

Bitcoin has surged past US $97,000 with its realized capitalization hitting a record US $882 billion, driven by renewed institutional accumulation and bullish investor sentiment. Firms like Strategy and Metaplanet are expanding their BTC holdings aggressively, with BTC ETFs seeing continued inflows. Analyst Peter Brandt projects a rise to US $150,000 by September 2025 contingent on Bitcoin reclaiming its parabolic trendline. While bullish momentum builds, investors are also cautioned about the potential for a 50% correction post-peak.

Bitcoin crosses US $97K as realized capitalization hits an all-time high of US $882.22 billion. With institutions accumulating BTC, analysts predict a surge to US $150,000 by September 2025.

As the crypto market heats up, Bitcoin has broken above the US $97,000 mark. Bitcoin trades at US $96,600, with a minor pullback from its 24-hour high.

However, the bullish recovery has increased the chances of an extended bull run. Under such scenarios, the new all-time high in the realized capitalization of the Bitcoin market price creates a peak.

Will the extended bull run in Bitcoin reach the US $150,000 mark? Let's find out.

Bitcoin Realized Cap Hits New ATH, Bulls Target New Market Price Peak

According to a recent report by Carmelo Alemán, an analyst at CryptoQuant, the BTC realized capitalization has reached a new all-time high. April 29, BTC realized market capitalization reached a record of US $882.22 billion.

This represents the highest-ever invested value in BTC, based on actual on-chain movement. This marks a key milestone for Bitcoin, as it differs from a traditional market cap in that the realized cap values the last traded price of each BTC.

This helps provide a clearer picture of true investor sentiment and overall active market participation. The sudden surge in the realized capitalization of BTC is accompanied by increased confidence among institutional and retail investors.

The Bitcoin spot ETFs have marked the second positive inflow on a monthly timeframe in 2025. Furthermore, large investment firms like Strategy in the US and Metaplanet in Japan are maintaining a strategy of land grab in Bitcoin.

Historically, a significant surge in realized capitalization has preceded a major Bitcoin price rally. However, since the recent surge in Bitcoin since April 9, the typical Bitcoin price cycle could result in a major accumulation spree.

In conclusion, the analyst forecasts a potential new bullish move in Bitcoin, recommending monitoring the on-chain indicator.

Institutions Acquire More Bitcoin

In a recent tweet, Wu Blockchain, a U.S.-based investment firm known for acquiring a large amount of Bitcoin, has posted the first-quarter results of 2025. The results reveal that the Bitcoin Strategic Treasury Reserve has reached 553,555 BTC as of April 28.

The average cost of buying a single Bitcoin in the Strategic Reserve is accounted at US $68,459, while the total cost stands at US $37.9 billion. At the current market price, the estimated value of the Strategic Bitcoin holding is US $52 billion.

Despite the massive Bitcoin holding, the company has posted a US $4.2 billion loss in Q1. Nevertheless, Strategy has increased its 2025 yield target from 10% to 25%.

This has increased the Bitcoin dollar gain target from US $10 billion to US $15 billion. Surprisingly, the company moves forward to acquire more Bitcoin with the public offering.

Strategy has announced a US $21 billion at-the-market equity offering and has released ordinary bonds to purchase Bitcoin. In a recent tweet,  Metplanet has announced the issuance of JPY 3.6 billion in 0% ordinary bonds.

As of April 23, MetaPlanet Inc.'s BTC holdings stood at 5,000 BTC, with a market value of more than US $483 million.

Analyst Eyes Bitcoin Hitting $150k in September 2025

As large institutions continue to acquire more Bitcoin, Peter Brandt, a veteran chart analyst, highlights the possibility of a new all-time high in Bitcoin.

The analyst highlights a price target of US $125,000 to US $150,000 to be reached by September 2025. Following the bull market cycle top, the analyst warns of a 50% correction possibility.

Notably, the key requirement for Bitcoin to hit a new all-time high is to regain the broken parabolic slope near the US $97,000 mark.

Conclusion

Bitcoin’s surge past US $97,000, backed by record realized capitalization and aggressive institutional buying, signals growing market confidence. With top analysts projecting a US $150,000 target by September, BTC's path hinges on reclaiming its parabolic trend, though a steep correction may follow. Investors should remain vigilant to on-chain signals and macroeconomic shifts.
