At 19, Samriddho Ghosh set out to solve India's lack of access to clean water. Years later, his work in artificial intelligence addresses the need for better communication between humans and technology. His story reflects a rare blend of technical skill, empathy, and determination that runs through every project he takes on.

The Disconnect Between AI and Humans

AI systems have advanced rapidly, but many still fail to understand human context. Most enterprise tools can process information, yet they struggle to interpret the nuances of emotions, tone, and intent behind what people say. Ghosh’s work focuses on closing that gap. He advocates, “Design must serve human reality, not technological novelty.” He aims to make AI more aware, conversational, and valuable in a space where automation can feel impersonal.

Context-Aware Intelligence in AI Design

At Oracle, Ghosh leads efforts to build the conversational AI application layer. It's software that makes enterprise communications smarter and more contextual. His differentiator framework for context engineering helps machines better interpret and adapt to real-world conversations. The idea is that simple systems that understand people make better decisions.

Before joining Oracle, Ghosh co-founded an AI startup that developed digital agents for sales teams. A publicly traded software company later acquired the platform. This purchase validated his ability to turn technical insight into scalable business results.

Social Good Empowered Through Technology

Ghosh’s first startup was in the clean water space. At age 19, he founded a deep tech company that created India's first $1 water purifier and a “water as a service” (WaaS) model for 50 million underserved citizens. The purifier delivered over half a million liters of safe drinking water at a fraction of the typical cost.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, he quickly pivoted to build a location intelligence platform that connected patients to critical medical resources. Within three months, the tool had over 100,000 users and was donated to the Indian government to support national response efforts. His work during that period was later published in the Springer Materials Research Society Journal and indexed by the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Magic, Mindset, and Perseverance

An unusual childhood shapes Ghosh’s perspective. “I grew up on a merchant navy ship with my parents from six to 13,” he says. “I wasn’t home-schooled, I was ‘ship-schooled’.” Surrounded by ocean storms, whales, and pirates, he watched his father take care of massive engines and persist in solving problems with a “Sailor’s Mindset.” This worldview means: “You never lose if you don't quit.”

That mentality propelled Ghosh through entrepreneurship, academic pursuits at UC Berkeley, and difficult personal moments. He says that the crests and the troughs are parts of the game he intends to win. Although he describes certain times as “bleak,” he kept moving forward.

Additionally, Ghosh has been a close-up magician for more than 15 years. It’s a hobby he picked up when he was eight years old. Even today, he performs at open mics in San Francisco. Although performing magic is a pastime, it has a profound effect on his work. “As a magician, I need to gauge my audience for my acts to land,” he says. “I borrow that learning to solve real-world problems too.”

Curiosity Fuels an Engineering Vision

Inspired by Steve Jobs, Samriddho Ghosh has set out to build technology that improves lives. His professional endeavors have led to clean water access and progress in enterprise AI. The exited founder and conversational AI expert has projects that have touched millions from rural Indian communities to global corporations. The curiosity he acquired as a child living on a navy ship now drives engineering design for the next generation of intelligence systems.
