Overview:

  • Figma has four plans: Starter (free), Professional, Organization and Enterprise, with paid prices set per seat each month.

  • Full seats cost USD 16 on Professional, USD 55 on Organization and USD 90 on Enterprise, while Dev and Collab seats cost less.

  • Annual billing, longer contracts and a regular seat audit are the best ways to cut costs.

Figma pricing depends on the plan and the type of seat a person needs. The Starter plan is free, while paid plans run from USD 3 to USD 90 per seat each month. Since March 2025, Figma has used a single-seat model, which replaced separate seats for each product.

This guide breaks down each plan, seat type, extra cost and money-saving tip so teams can pick the right option.

Figma Starter Plan: What the Free Option Includes

The Starter plan costs nothing and never expires. It suits students, freelancers and anyone testing the tool. Users get unlimited drafts and a small monthly allowance of AI credits, about 500 per month by one estimate.

Files and teams face limits, so growing groups usually outgrow it fast. It works well for personal projects but offers fewer team tools. Many designers begin here and upgrade only when a client or team needs shared work.

Figma Professional Plan: Pricing by Seat Type

Professional is the most popular paid plan. A Full seat costs USD 16 per month when billed annually, or USD 20 when billed monthly. Dev seats cost USD 12, and Collab seats cost USD 3. A Full seat lets users create and edit design files, FigJam boards and slides. Each Full seat also gets 3,000 AI credits a month.

A team of five Full users would pay USD 80 a month on annual billing, or USD 100 on monthly billing. Vendr’s data shows annual billing cuts per-seat prices by about 20%, so yearly plans suit teams that are sure about their needs.

Organization & Enterprise: Costs for Larger Teams

Organization costs USD 55 per Full seat each month, with Dev seats at USD 25 and Collab seats at USD 5. Enterprise costs USD 90 per Full seat, USD 35 per Dev seat and USD 5 per Collab seat. Both plans are billed annually only. Full seats get 3,500 AI credits on Organization and 4,250 on Enterprise.

The extra money buys single sign-on, shared design systems across teams and stronger security tools. A team of ten Full seats in Organization would pay USD 550 a month, which adds up to USD 6,600 a year.

The same team on Enterprise would pay USD 900 a month, or USD 10,800 a year. Toolradar notes that the jump from Professional to Organization is the biggest price gap. It also says many companies negotiate 20% to 35% off the Enterprise list price.

Seat Types & AI Credits Explained

Figma now sells one seat per person instead of separate seats for each product. A Full seat is for people who design and edit. A Dev seat is for developers who inspect designs and copy code. A Collab seat is for people who comment, join FigJam sessions and review work. This setup lets managers give each person only the access they need.

Before March 2025, teams bought separate Design, Dev Mode and FigJam seats and had to track them one by one. The new model is simpler, though some teams saw higher bills. Toolradar says Organization rose from about USD 45 to USD 55.

Hidden Costs & Smart Ways to Save

Costs can climb past the base seat price. Figma AI credit limits, a mix of seat types and multi-team setups all affect the final bill. Teams should audit seats often, since many users only need Collab or Dev access. Vendr’s data also shows that two- or three-year contracts usually carry lower per-seat rates than one-year deals.

A yearly plan locks in the price, but it also means paying for unused seats if the team shrinks. Students and educators can get free education access, and nonprofits may qualify for discounts.

Indian teams that pay in USD should also factor in exchange rates and card fees, which can raise the real cost. Prices change, so buyers should confirm live numbers on Figma’s pricing page before budgeting.

Conclusion

Figma pricing offers a clear path from free to fully managed. Starter works for solo users, Professional at USD 16 per Full seat fits most teams, and Organization or Enterprise suit companies that need security and shared systems.

Teams save money by matching seat types to real roles and choosing annual billing. A short audit before each renewal keeps costs under control.
