Samsung’s next-generation foldable lineup appears to be on schedule for its global debut, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 receiving certification from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), strengthening expectations for a July 22 launch event.

Samsung has already taken yet another significant step towards its much-awaited announcement with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Watch 9 all earning FCC certification. While FCC certification does not necessarily provide details on smartphone hardware, it undoubtedly indicates that the smartphones are nearing commercial release.

FCC Listing Indicates the Company’s Ready for Launch

The FCC certification is among the last steps before the smartphone’s release. The FCC listing thus shows that all the smartphones from Samsung’s foldable series are ready for the upcoming release.

According to media reports, Samsung has announced plans to host an Unpacked event on July 22 to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch series, and other devices.

Connectivity Capabilities from the FCC Listing

Some information concerning the connectivity capabilities of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is available from the FCC listing. According to the FCC listing, the smartphone will offer users 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, and NFC connectivity.

Shifting Focus to Hardware Changes

Alongside the FCC listing, there are industry rumors that Samsung plans to make certain hardware changes to the Galaxy Z Fold 8. First of all, the new phone will be thinner and lighter than the previous model, with enhanced hardware and display capabilities.

Secondly, Samsung is reportedly expanding the foldable phone series with various models to meet different users’ needs. However, the company has not yet officially confirmed any of these rumors.

Announcement Planned for Next Month

Since Samsung has completed the certification process, attention will shift to the company’s upcoming announcement, at which it is expected to release more information on the device’s pricing, availability, and specifications.

If the reported July 22 timeline holds, Samsung will once again seek to strengthen its lead in the premium foldable smartphone market as competition in the segment intensifies.
