The company has mentioned that this sales number combines both digital and physical versions of the game. Notably, the game was released as a Game-Key Card and digitally via the eShop. It is a strong result for a Pokémon spin-off, especially because it takes the series away from its usual battle-focused style.
Pokopia offers players a slower, more relaxed adventure. In this game, players can build areas, explore the world, and work with different Pokémon. The game had a strong start too, and sold more than 2.2 million copies in its first four days.
The development team also has further plans. Recently, the game received a paid Expansion Pass and DLC, Bubbly Basin, which offered players a whole new underwater area. The first part arrived on August 5, while the other parts are planned for late 2026 and 2027.
Pokémon Pokopia shares some ideas with games such as Animal Crossing. Both games let players build, decorate, and enjoy a slower pace. The big difference is Pokémon. Players can interact with familiar creatures while shaping their own world.
